|Review:||Needing a new day pack I looked at various online sources and finally decided on the Trekker from ALPS Mountaineering. This proved to be an excellent choice! This pack is loaded with lots of nice features such as a inside "load control" pocket which is suitable for an hydration bladder, a padded back with an PE framesheet, to keep those bulky items from poking one in the back. The padding is ALPS own "air mesh", which helps to increase airflow between the back and the pack. The external "kangaroo" pocket is good for storing a rainjacket, just in case of that sudden downpour! |
I found the fit of the Trekker to be excellent. Seeing my upper body is so long, I always found most day packs didn't quite "fit" right. Not so with the ALPS Trekker! The shoulder straps were very comfortable and had the right amount of length and the waist belt never "rode up" to my mid-section, unlike my old day pack. Adjusting the Trekker was a breeze also.
I was impressed with the quality and construction of this pack, All the seams are nicely finished and the Trekker used oversized #10 zippers. An excellent choice for long term durability. The Trekker is constructed of 300D "honeycombed" ripstop polyester. In my opinion, the ALPS Trekker is very attractive.
All in all, after using my new ALPS Trekker this past weekend on the Buckeye Trail, I'm very much impressed with the fit, features, pack size (large enough for all the items one needs for a long day hike) and comfort this pack offers. My advice is: buy this pack! One will not be disappointed! Kudos to the nice people at ALPS Mountaineering for designing such a wonderful day pack!
