Review: After looking for a affordable, yet functional Mummy Bag I came across the ALPS Silver Springs 20 Degree Mummy Bag. Since I am tall and have wide shoulders the long size fits me perfect! 34 inches at the shoulders, I no longer wake up with cramped shoulders like some of my other mummies with 32 inch shoulders. Plus the contoured hood is very comfortable and it traps in that precious body heat on those cooler days! The insulation used in the Silver Springs Mummy is Dupont's Hollofil II which in my opinion works just as well as the more pricey (and trendy) Polargaurd fills. I used the Bag to it's 20 degree limit and I felt no cold air creeping in. All I can say that Hollofil II really works! The only gripes I have towards this Bag is the snaggy zipper that almost always tends to get jammed in the nylon strip that runs the length of the zipper. It can be very annoying! Other than this, This ALPS Bag suits all my three season backpacking/camping needs and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a affordable ($99.99) but decent performing Mummy Bag. One can purchase one of those "big name" Mummies but I found a good Bag with ALPS Mountaineering!
